DIVE SITE DESCRIPTION

You take Hwy 53 north and exit on Hwy 169 to Ely & Tower, before Tower you will exit onto Hwy 77. Follow 77 to the Birch Point Rd. make a right and follow road to the Birch Point Landing. From the landing it is best to have a boat to get out to the islands, but you can dive around the landing. Depth doesn't exceed 20 ft. in the dive areas. You'll find lots of bottles, some very old. Fisherman seem to drop a few anchors in the area so keep an eye open for them. There is no current, and the area is pretty well protected from the wind. Fish you could probably find are bass, northerns, crappies, sunfish and even walleyes. The area is fished a lot so make sure you tow a dive flag and also keep your eyses open for lures. The bottom is sand, weeds, grass, boulders and dead timbers.
