| Birch Point, Daisy Bay, Lake Vermilion, Tower, MN |
You take Hwy 53 north and exit on Hwy 169 to Ely & Tower, before
Tower you will exit onto Hwy 77. Follow 77 to the Birch Point Rd. make
a right and follow road to the Birch Point Landing. From the landing it
is best to have a boat to get out to the islands, but you can dive around
the landing. Depth doesn't exceed 20 ft. in the dive areas. You'll find
lots of bottles, some very old. Fisherman seem to drop a few anchors in
the area so keep an eye open for them. There is no current, and the area
is pretty well protected from the wind. Fish you could probably find are
bass, northerns, crappies, sunfish and even walleyes. The area is fished
a lot so make sure you tow a dive flag and also keep your eyses open for
lures. The bottom is sand, weeds, grass, boulders and dead timbers.
