| STUBLER PIT LAKE Buhl, MN 55741 DIVERS MAP |
Stubler Mine is located on the west side of Buhl, MN approximately 12
miles west of Virginia, MN. You would take Hwy 169 west off of Hwy 53 North.
There are two exits into Buhl, the first one is Pennsylvania Ave, and the
second one is Forest St., both will take you to the city park. Follow the
road west about 1/4 mile and make a right hand turn and follow the road
to the parking lot. The beach has change rooms, latrines and some picnic
benches. There are a few camp sites back at the park for over night camping.
Stubler is a shallow quarry, not getting much deeper than forty-five feet.
One can make a one tank dive and can go around it completely, but then
you wouldn't beable to stop and smell the roses. A two tank dive will allow
you to really stop and check out the fish and plant life. Water temperature
ranges from 70 degrees in mid to late summer and the thermalcline sets
up at about twenty-eight feet. Points of interest are in the north east
corner where there is a few downed trees which host a lot of sun fish,
bass, and large northerns. On the east side is a small wall starting in
ten feet of water and going down to about thirty feet. In the south east
corner you will find reeds and a lot of pan fish. This area is even great
for just snorkeling.
